Tromso,
situated somewhere north ot the arctic circle in Norway, is the home of
Beatservice, label dedicated to ice-cold quality electronica. This recent
compilation showcases some of the work from its in house artists, together
with a few external input. The common denominator here is that all these
artists are Scandinavian. Mind over MIDI, mates of Biosphere's Geir Jenssen,
Röyksopp or Information are amongst the ones playing on frozen grounds,
by integrating ice, water and nature into their blizzard-swept constructions.
But the compilation also focuses on more groovy soundscapes, like in Motion
Control's Strawberries or Neural Network's Mother Night.
In fact, this album is practically split in two, the first half scanning
the funky Norwegian scene, before becoming more introvert, to the point
of being at times completely beat less.
Definitely an interesting
compilation if you're not scared of frost bites.

BEATSERVICE OFFICIAL WEB
SITE
www.beatservice.no
As a part of the Beatservice
Records 5 year anniversary, we are releasing the Arctic Circles 2
compilation. Like the first Arctic Circles CD from 1997 (BS015),
the new one deals with down tempo electronica aimed at the sofa more than
the dance floor. But the focus is not that strong on the arctic and cold
soundscapes. Arctic Circles 2 mirrors the development of the norwegian
electronic scene over the last years, and has a warmer and more groovy
sound. But still with a mainly laid back focus.
Arctic Circles 2 works
primarily as a label compilation, with tasters from all the Beatservice
artists: Aedena Cycle, Information, Mind over MIDI, Motion Control, Sternklang
and Teebee & K, plus the debut from the newest Beatservice signing,
Upper Rooms. In addition we find old acquaintances like Mental Overdrive,
Neural Network, Sketch, Ultraviolet, and the new wonder band Röyksopp,
plus Tuka (aka Torbjørn Brundtland from Röyksopp and Drum Island)
and Debris (aka Jostein Dahl Gjelsvik from Circular and Neural Network)
