The NCPM presents different aspects of music through a number of exhibitions ranging from conception to finish product.
It is quite difficult to render the process of 3D sound on your normal Hi-Fi, even with a surround sound system. To experience the full impact of the technology used here, it is necessary to use headphones.
Now let's get onto this album. Pretentious has everything of an ambient album. The tracks are from five to fifteen minutes long, and melodies are scarce. The sound is here more important than any pop aspects. Fans of both Erasure and Heaven 17 might therefore be a bit disapointed, even if it this records is like an instrumental extension of Erasure, the album.
3D recordings have been done before, but not quite in such a way. It really sounds like you're in the middle of the spectrum, and music swirls around you.
Unfortunately though, the music is here overcome by technology and Pretentious can be a bit tedious to listen to.
