Warp
is one of the most influential record label to have emerged over the last
10 years. They have paved the way for new directions in music, with the
help of people like Nightmares On Wax, LFO, Autechre,
Aphex Twin, Plaid and many many more. Amongst their
new babies are the likes of Boards of Canada, with last year's superb Music
Has The Right To Children, and this year's fabulous For Beginner
Piano by Plone. And there you go, for the label's
tenth birthday, they don't come empty ended. No less than 3 compilations
to be precise. The first one, Influences, presents the roots of
the label, the second, Classics, is dedicated to all the names that
have propulsed Warp to electronic domination, and at last Remixes,
the last in the series, is a remixing/reworking excercies that, would anyone
else have put it together, would be more than boring, but, is here, because
of the quality of the tracks and all the artists and remixers involved,
a feast! Definitely not to miss. Happy birthday guys, and see you in 10
years time!
