Autumn: rain, wind, cold, shorter days, Winter Chill 2... Goes to show that not everything is bleak this side of Christmas.
Around this time last year, London-based label Hed Kandi released the first in the Winter Chill series. DJ Mark Doyle goes back to the woodwork, and brings us number 2. Leading the pack are Ibiza-darlings Afterlife, followed by the likes of Moby, Chicane, a very chilled mix of Delirium’s Silence, The Beloved, Thievery Corporation, Goldfrapp, Smith & Mighty, Tosca, 45 Dip and much, much more, all offering songs to curl up into, to find warmth with. No need to say that, even more so than its predecessor, this album brings together the best of chilled music for the listener’s pleasure.
It is so hard to find even one outstanding track here that we won’t try at all. The selection is absolutely faultless. But after all, that’s what Hed Kandi has accustomed us to. In just over two years and twelve compilations, all very different, and all of very high quality, Mark Doyle and his team have got us used to buy anything released by them with eyes closed.
Winter Chill 2 is a wonderful collection of gorgeous songs, all carefully selected by music lovers for music lovers. Over two hours of pure delight. If you haven’t experienced the Hed Kandi touch yet, isn’t it time you started now?

Hed Kandi again, this time with their winter collection. And if you were to believe them, the winter is going to be very cold. Despite the title, this compilation is filled with warm, down tempo quality songs, from the eastern flavours of the opening title, to the whirling rap of Soon E MC on Hybrid 's Sinequanon or the isolationist mood of Morcheeba's Moog Island. There is not one title in this carefully selected list that you could do without. And it might be freezing cold outside, but it is more than just warm in the head with these. Hed Kandi is THE label of the moment, we love them and we definitely want to hear more from them.
