Rephlex
have announced the release of Luke
Vibert’s follow-up to this year’s YosepH
album and Amen Andrews drum’n’bass series
of 12”. Luke’s latest project, Kerrier District,
is his disco guise. As he declared to us when we interviewed
him, ‘I don’t think many people will believe
it’s me who’s made it,” say’s
Luke. “It doesn’t sound anything like me.
Just simple disco grooves. It sounds live, but it’s
all programmed to sound like old disco’ The album
will be released as a DJ-friendly triple vinyl on 26 January.

WHEELS
INSTEAD OF HOOVES CHRISTMAS EXTRAVAGANZA

Wheels
Instead Of Hooves are putting together a big Christmas
extravaganza in London, only a few days before Christmas
day. The club, which started four years ago in a grim
bar in Manchester and which has enjoyed a successful run
ever since, is throwing its biggest party to day on Friday
19 December. WIOH will be investing the three floors of
the legendary Electrowerkz in Angel, each floor being
curated by electronica’s finest, with Rephlex taking
care of room one, Mike
Paradinas of room two and AI Records of room three.
The impressive line-up includes live performances by µ-ziq,
Remarc, Chevron, Shitmat, Leafcutter
John, Rob Hall, Yellotone, Claro Intelecto, Normal
FZV and many more. The line up for the Rephlex room (Braindance
Grotto) is being kept secret until the night. Check the

club Sprawl, founded by Si-Cut.db
mastermind Douglas
Benford, be celebrating its eighth birthday on 14
January 2004 at the Lifthouse in London, from 7.30pm to
midnight. As usual, the event will give the opportunity
for underground electronic artists to showcase their work,
with live performances from Manchester’s Disco Operating
System, plus Illuminati and Ben Drew, and DJ sets from

RELEASE THE BBC RADIOPHONIC WORKSHOP

Rephlex,
who are currently celebrating 12 years at the forefront
of electronic music, have announced the release of vinyl
version of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop compilations published
at the end of last year on CD by BBC Music. Released just
on time for Christmas, this exceptional collection of
work, released on 4x10inch, will feature all the tracks
from the BBC
Radiophonic Music and The
Radiophonic Workshop CDs, each member of this
pioneering collective or artists being given roughly one
side, with the exception of Delia Derbyshire whose recordings
will feature on a complete 10inch. Label founder Richard
D. James has always named the Radiophonic Workshop
as a major influence on his work |

LAUNCHES NEW MP3 SITE

Warp
has just announced the imminent launch of Bleep.com,
a site entirely dedicated to high quality MP3. Independent
record label Warp is the first label in the world to have
their entire back catalogue and all new releases available
to download on a pay-per-track basis. Unlike P2P, Bleep.com,
which is set to be launched this December, will allow
people to download and listen to music without having
to install any proprietary software. |

KARMA
MUSIC GROUP LAUNCHES NEW ONLINE MUSIC LABEL

The
Karma Music Group has just launched the first fully-integrated
online record label, Karmadownload.com,
where customers can download artist's tracks direct from
the site and artists get a 50% share in all the royalties.
Launched earlier this week, the label is the first online-only
record label to hit the net, with a roster of artists
currently unsigned to any other label. Artists can upload
their music onto the site where it gets assessed by Karmadownload’s
A&R team. The site covers indie, rock, urban and dance.
Customers can download music legally for as little as
99p, with a three-track EP costing £2.50. It is
expected that prices will drop as the label grows. |

SAVATH & SAVALAS ALBUM TO BE RELEASED IN 2004

Scott
Herren will follow his hugely successful and critically
acclaimed Prefuse
73 Extinguisher
album with his second album under his Savath & Savalas
guise. Released on Warp on 26 January 2004, Apropa’t
was recorded in Herren’s
home in Barcelona, where he has lived for the last 18
months, and mixed in Tortoise’s studio in Chicago
with John McEntire. The album was conceived with Spanish
vocalist Eva Puyuelo, features a myriad of contributors,
and is heavily influenced by Catalan folklore and music. |

ground breaking music festival, Instal, returns for its
third edition to the Arches, in Argyle Street, on Sunday
23 November from 4pm to 12am. Instal features one-off
performances from some of the most striking artists in
contemporary music today. Running on two stages with tightly

AMM, Merzbow, Ryoji Ikeda, Vooredoms: The Boredoms, Whitehouse

A.M. ON QUATERMASS

Members
from Mogwai, Tontraeger and To Rococo Rot have teamed
up to form Music A.M., and will be releasing their first
album, A Heart & Two Stars on Quatermass
on 26 January. Luke Sutherland, Volker Bertelmann and
Stefan Schneider got together to form Music A.M. early
in 2002, and the album is said to combine a variety of
styles and textures, from ambient electronica to country
and folk. |
