REMIXED

Following
last year’s stunning Ulysses EP, Leaf will
be releasing two remixed Murcof
tracks on 12” on 19 April. Utopía Remixes
features a reworking of Memoria by Sutekh and
an epic remix of Ulysses from Fax. Both Ulysses
and Memoría will then be collected on
a specially priced CD on Leaf in May, and will also contains
extra remixes by Jan Jalinek, Icarus, Deathprod and others,
as well as exclusive Murcof
tracks. Murcof’s
second album, recorded in 5.1 surround sound and due to
be released both on CD and DVD is currently scheduled

DANGER
MOUSE LIVE AT LEX PARTY

It
has been hard to avoid the controversy around Danger Mouse’s
Grey Album
over the last few weeks. The album, which combines the
lyrics of Jay Z’s recent Black Album with
a soundtrack built around the Beatles’ seminal 1968
White Album, and the protest that followed, Grey
Tuesday, launched across the web by music activist webstie
Downhill
Battle, has received considerable coverage in the
press all over the world. Danger
Mouse is preparing a handful of dates, including a
massive Lex party at London’s Scala on Wednesday
28 April. The line up for the evening includes Danger
Mouse, Prince Paul, Sage Francis/Non Prophets, Prince

VINCENT
GALLO TO GIVE RARE LIVE PERFORMANCES IN THE UK

Multi-talented
artist Vincent Gallo will give a rare live performance
of songs taken from his seminal album When at
the Royal Festival Hall in London on Monday 5 April with
Jim O’Rourke and Steve Shelley from Sonic Youth.
Prior to this London appearance, Gallo will be performing
at the Sonic Youth curated day of All Tomorrow’s
Parties (2-4 April) at the Camber Sands Holiday Centre
in West Sussex, where he is expected to perform an improv
with Josh Klinghoffer and Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist
John Frusciante. |

NEW
FENNESZ ALBUM ON TOUCH

Touch
Records have announced details of Fennesz’s follow
up to the 2001 epic Endless Summer and compilation
Field Recordings 1995:2002. Described as his
most accessible record yet, Venice features the
vocals of ex-Japan David Sylvian and the guitar of Burkhard
Strangl. The album is said to explore musical territories
familiar to fans of My Bloody Valentine, Sigur
Rós, the Cocteau
Twins, Kim O’Rourke, Oval and Sonic Youth to
name but a few. To coincide with the release of the album
on 26 April, Fennesz will be performing live in London
(30/04) and at Triptych in Glasgow (1/05) and Edinburgh
(2/05). Other dates will be announced throughout the year.

COLLEEN
RETURNS TO THE UK FOR MORE LIVE DATES

Following
the success of her first UK live performance at the end
of last year, Colleen,
aka Parisienne Cécile Schott, is set to return
to the UK for a string of dates in London, Bristol, Edinburgh
and Glasgow. As Colleen
is getting ready to work on the follow up to last year's
brilliant Everyone
Alive Wants Answers and has been commissioned
to write music for two films in her native France, these
live performances are likely to be her last this year.
Dates as follow: London (28/04), Bristol (29/04), Edinburgh
(30/04) and Glasgow (1/05). Both dates in Scotland are
part of Triptych festival. |

WARP
TO RE-RELEASE MUSIC HAS THE RIGHT TO CHILDREN

Boards
Of Canada’s commercial debut release, Music
Has The Right To Children, will be re-released by
Warp on 5 April 2004. The album will feature an extra
track, Happy Cycling, until now only available
on the band’s Peel Session EP, and will
be repackaged in a foldout cardboard digipack sleeve.
Although no details have been announced yet, the band
is set to release the long awaited follow-up to 2002’s
Geogaddi
later on this year. |

funkster Dirk Dresselhaus, AKA Schneider TM, is about
to release a collection of remixes done over the last
couple of years. The album, entitled Reconfigures,
released on Earsugar on 26 April, features reworking of
songs by Pulseprogramming, Lamb, Ruby, Rechenzentrum,
Turtle Bay Country Club, Phillip Boa & Voodooclub

SCOTT
WALKER SIGNS TO 4AD

Legendary
crooner Scott Walker has just signed to 4AD and has began
work on the follow up to 1995’s Tilt. One
third of the Walker Brothers, Scott Walker has, over the
last forty years, become one of the most influential and
respected musicians of his generation through his solo
work. The news follow the recent release of the five CD
box set Five Easy Pieces. |
