SPRAWL
CELEBRATE NINTH BIRTHDAY

January
2005 will see Sprawl celebrate nine years in promoting
new music with a proper birthday bash. The evening will
see three live performances, from Italian trio Pirandèlo,
Japanese artist Katzo and J-lab from the UK, plus a DJ
set from o.acam. London-based Sprawl was set up by Si-Cut.db’s
Douglas Benford and Iris Garrelfs, and has over the years
welcomed an impressive amount of artists, known or not,
from all over the world, and this anniversary event promises
to showcase Sprawl at its best. The event will take place
at the Charterhouse, EC1, on Wednesday 12 January from

WARP
LONDON CHRISTMAS PARTY

Following
their recent video retrospective, WarpVision, which compiled
fifteen years of Warp videos, the London-based label will
be holding a Christmas electro/acid bonanza rave on Friday
17 December at Jacks, London Bridge, scene of Andy Weatherall’s
legendary Sabresonic parties of the mid nineties. The
party, which will see live performances from Jimmy Edgar,
Milanese and Dreck Records' cut-up master Secundo, with
DJ performance by Miss Kittin and Jimmy Edgar, with guest
appearances from bleep pioneers Unique 3 and DJ Mink.

SAGE
FRANCIS RETURNS WITH NEW SINGLE AND ALBUM

Hip-hop
innovator Sage Francis is set to return with a new single
and album after signing a three record deal with Epitaph.
For this follow up to 2002’s Personal Journal
on Anticon, Francis has teamed up with a handful of producers,
including Reanimator, Danger Mouse, Daddy Kev, Sixtoo,
Alias and The Grimme Fund to name but a few. The album,
A Healthy Distrust, is due out on 7 February,
and will be preceeded by a single, Sea Lion,
on 10 January. The single was co-written with Palace Music
and Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy mastermind Will
Oldham. |
