About 15 years ago, the Pet Shop Boys came out of nowhere with that West Est Girls track, and we still haven't recovered really. We've got used to that sound though, used to that irony, to that hyper marketing obsession. "Let's make lots of money" did they claim out loud on their second single, and it has worked. The sexiest voice in the business, together with the bestest of pop music, after seven studio albums, they've still got it all right. And this time, they got a hand from the likes of David Morales, Rollo, Craig Armstrong and Killy Minogue. The first track sounds a bit like Faithless featuring The Pet Shop Boys, but after that, it's back at home, and business as usual. The titles are as long as ever (I Don't Know What You Want But I Can't Give It Anymore, or You Only Tell Me You Love Me When You're Drunk), and New York City Boy would make you think that Village People have reformed! Mind your ears and feet, the boys are in great shape.
