We've
stopped counting Mr. Jenkinson's albums now. All we know is
that there's always one to come, no matter what. Of course,
everybody knows that he is best mate with Aphex Twin's Richard
D James, and it is quite obvious that they've influenced each
other a little.
Tom Boy carries on here his little adventures into the deep
world of drill'n'bass'n'free jazz. And nothing seems to stop
him from experimenting with sounds and drum patterns.
After last year's Music Has Rotten One Note and its
accoustic/live jazz atmosphere, he has returned to a more electronic
sound, earlier this year with Budakhan Mindphone and
now with this new album. Although Selection Sixteen
only records thirteen tracks at the back of the CD, Tom Jenkinson
has once again be very generous and he's included four extra,
not so hidden, tracks, track 16 being a jewel of acid, not so
distant from his Vic Acid, a few years ago.
Squarepusher is back, on form, and is probably already recording
the next mini album.
