Umpteenth album from the Lab, and they don't really go out of there way these days. Relying on a formula that brought them critical success over the years, the mix is still very much fifty per cent pop, fifty per cent easy listening and fifty per cent weird 70's electronica. They can claim being at the origin of the "we've got a French singer and she sings in French" phenomenon, although bands like The Gentle People do it in a lot funnier way.
Cobra... is not any easier to listen to than its predecessors and can sometimes be quite tedious. The fans will love it, others will slate it, and all we can say is that we don't really know where we stand. We like bits of it, but not the complete album. If only they could be a bit more adventurous...
